About applying for asylum in Sweden and about life here – films for younger children
These films tell you about what happens when you and your family apply for asylum (protection) in Sweden, how it works and why you may need to answer some difficult questions. You will also learn more about life in Sweden and what rights you have.
The films are suitable for children aged about 7 to 11 years. It’s a good idea to watch the films with an adult you can talk to if there is something you do not understand.

For important adults
These films for children are part of the introduction to Swedish society for asylum seekers. The content corresponds to what asylum-seeking adults learn in a full-day course at the Swedish Migration Agency. The films are adapted for children, but the content may raise questions that children might need to talk to an adult about. Please watch them together with the child and talk together about the questions that may arise.
Do you also meet older children? More detailed information can be found as text on the page For children who have applied for asylum
In 2021, the Swedish Migration Agency received a commission from the Swedish government to arrange introduction to Swedish society for asylum seekers. The introduction is mandatory for asylum seekers, who are aged 15 and over and contains information about the asylum process, Swedish laws, democracy, norms and values. The commission also includes offering information material that is adapted for children.
