A person who needs an entry visa to visit you in Sweden for up to 90 days, or who is going to visit you for a longer period of time and must therefore apply for a visitor’s residence permit, must have an invitation from you.

You must send the invitation to the person who wants to visit you, so they can attach it to their application. There are two different invitation forms. Fill in and send the one that matches the length of your guest’s visit.

How long will the person visiting be staying in Sweden?

A person from a non-EU/EEA country may need a Schengen visa to visit you in Sweden for up to 90 days.

If the person needs an entry visa, we require an invitation from you. You should send the following documents to the person who will be visiting you:

Copy of your ID document
A copy of an ID card, passport document, or equivalent documentation showing your identity (a residence permit card does not count as an ID document).

Documents showing details about your income and assets
If you will be responsible for the financial maintenance of the person you are inviting. Examples of the documents you need to submit can be found on the invitation form.

A special extract from the Swedish Population Register for this purpose
You must order a special extract from the Swedish Population Register, Inbjudan [Invitation] from the Swedish Tax Agency: Extracts from the Swedish Population Register via the Swedish Tax Agency. External link. The extract does not need to bear the stamp and signature of the Swedish Tax Agency or another authority.

The person who will be visiting you must submit an application for a Schengen visa themselves

It is not enough for you to send an invitation to the person who will be visiting you. They must submit an entry visa application themselves and attach the invitation and other documents you have sent to their application.
