You are an EU/EEA citizen or the family member of such a citizen and want to live, work or study in Sweden.

You want to apply for a residence permit to live with a partner, parent, or other relative, or because you have other ties Sweden.

You want to visit Sweden for a shorter or longer period of time. Depending on the length of your visit, you may need to apply for either a Schengen visa or a visitor’s residence permit.

You want to apply for a residence permit to study in Sweden, or as an accompanying family member of someone who is studying.

You have a residence permit in Sweden and now want to apply for a permanent residence permit.

You want to apply to become a Swedish citizen or to retain, regain or be released from your Swedish citizenship.

You want to apply for asylum in Sweden.

You want to apply for an alien’s passport, travel document, or emergency alien’s passport, because you cannot obtain a passport from your country of origin.

You have fled the war in Ukraine and want to apply for protection in Sweden under the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive.

You are a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country and have lived in Sweden continuously for five years, and you want to apply for long-term resident status in Sweden.

You have a long-term resident status in another EU country, or are a family member of one, and want to apply for a residence permit to live in Sweden.

You are a British citizen or the family member of such a citizen and want to live in Sweden.

You are a Swiss citizen and want to apply for a residence permit to live in Sweden for more than three months. Your family can apply at the same time.

If you have decided to move from Sweden, you can apply for a financial grant from the Swedish Migration Agency, a so-called repatriation grant.
