Power of attorney
Power of attorney means that you give someone permission to represent you, for example to apply on your behalf.
You can appoint someone to act as your representative by giving that person power of attorney. For example, you can give a family member or your employer power of attorney, and they can then submit your application, be informed about the reasons for a decision, or appeal a decision on your behalf.
The power of attorney must be signed by the person who is authorising someone else to be their representative. If the Swedish Migration Agency asks to see the power of attorney, the original copy must be provided.
To give power of attorney to another person, you can use the “Fullmakt” [“Power of attorney”] form. You must sign the power of attorney.

Use this power of attorney if you want a representative to represent you in your contact with the Swedish Migration Agency and the courts that handle migration cases.
If you do not use the form, you can instead write a letter stating
- that it is a power of attorney
- your name, date of birth, and address (i.e. the name of the person who is giving power of attorney to someone else)
- what the person being given power of attorney is authorised to do
- the name, personal identity number, and address of the person being given power of attorney
- the date on which the power of attorney was signed, and the name of the town/city where it was signed.
- your signature (i.e. the signature of the person who is giving power of attorney to someone else).
You must then scan or photograph the power of attorney and send it to the person you want to be able to represent you, who must then attach the copy of the power of attorney to the application. If a representative applies on your behalf, the Swedish Migration Agency’s decision will be sent to them.
Revoking a power of attorney
If you no longer want the person you have appointed as your representative to represent you, you need to revoke the power of attorney. Use the form:
