Visiting Sweden
If you want to visit Sweden and you are a citizen in a country outside the EU, you may need to apply for a permit before the visit. Which permit you need to apply for depends on how long your stay in Sweden will be. If your stay in Sweden will be less than 90 days you may need to apply for a visa. If your stay in Sweden will be more than 90 days you need to apply for a visitor’s residence permit.

Introduction of a digital application for visitor’s residence permits at Swedish missions abroad
From 15 February, it is possible for people who are outside Sweden to submit a digital application for a visitor’s residence permit.

It will now be clearer what applies to residence permits for visits
From 15 January 2024, the rules will be clearer when it comes to residence permits for visitors. In a new judicial position, the Swedish Migration Agency emphasises, among other things, that in the future the applicant must be able to show that they have insurance and show how they will support themselves during their visit in Sweden.
