You are waiting for a decision You have applied for protection under the Temporary Protection Directive

You have applied for a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive and are waiting for a decision. The information on this page applies both to first-time applicants and to those who have applied for an extension.

  • Important to know
  • How it works

If you are granted a residence permit, you will receive a residence permit card. In order for the Swedish Migration Agency to be able to produce the card, you must be fingerprinted and photographed. If you have applied for the first time, you will be informed of how this will be done when you receive the decision.

If you are granted an extended residence permit, you will need a new residence permit card. You must therefore be fingerprinted and photographed again. When you made your application, you had to book an appointment for this, and received an email with a confirmation of the appointment. If you have applied for several people, everyone must come to the appointment. Contact your Unit for Reception if you need financial support for your journey to the Swedish Migration Agency.

You, and each person for whom you have applied, will each receive a separate confirmation that the Swedish Migration Agency has received the application. This letter can be good to have if you need to prove to an authority or employer that you applied for an extended residence permit in time.

It takes a few weeks for the Swedish Migration Agency to check whether you are entitled to protection under the Temporary Protection Directive.

Once we have made a decision, you will be sent a letter. It may take a few days for the letter to reach you.

If you change your address, please let us know as soon as possible, so that you do not miss any letters we send you.
