Attach passport copies to your application
You must enclose copies of the information in your passport with your application for a permit in Sweden. Here you can read what the copies must show.
The Swedish Migration Agency sets certain requirements for what your passport must contain. The copies that you attach to your application must show that your passport meets the requirements.
All information in the passport must be clearly visible on the copies. Keep in mind that information can be found on different pages in the passport. It is therefore important that you copy all the pages that are needed.
You can photograph or scan the pages of the passport and attach them in the e-service. If you do not apply in the e-service, make paper copies.
You must copy the pages in your passport that show
- personal details
- period of validity
- issuing country
- your signature, if there is a signature field
- whether you are permitted to live in countries other than your country of origin
- the machine-readable code on the identity page (see the area marked in the photo)
- numbers and symbols at the top and bottom of the passport pages.
In some cases, you also need to make copies of the pages of the passport that contain entry and exit stamps. Make a copy of all the stamps in the passport and make sure that the entire stamped page is visible in the copy.
