Changes for residents in Bosnia and Herzegovina applying for a Schengen visa

As of 16 January 2025, residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be able to apply for a Schengen visa at the Embassy in Sarajevo.

Schengen visa applications from residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be processed by the Swedish Embassy in Skopje, North Macedonia as of 16 January 2025. This means that from that date you will not be able to apply for a Schengen visa at the embassy in Sarajevo.

The application and passport will be sent to the Swedish Embassy in Skopje which will decide on the application. The passport and decision will then be sent back to VFS Global in Sarajevo where you can pick them up. Please note that the embassy in Sarajevo will not be able to answer questions about Schengen visas. If you have any questions, please contact the VFS Global call centre.

You will, apart from the visa fee, bee obliged to pay a service fee to VFS Global that amounts to 80 Euro. Transport of application and passport to and from Skopje is included in the service fee.
