Introduction of a digital application for visitor’s residence permits at Swedish missions abroad

From 15 February, it is possible for people who are outside Sweden to submit a digital application for a visitor’s residence permit.

Previously, only people outside Sweden and within the area served by the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok were able to apply in the e-service.

Applying for a residence permit in the e-service shortens the total waiting time, as the application does not need to be sent to the Swedish Migration Agency by post from an embassy abroad. E-service applications are submitted via the Swedish Migration Agency’s website, and you pay for the application by bank card and make an appointment for an in-person visit to the embassy in the e-service.
