Daily allowance can be divided into two payments per month

In order to ensure that people who are listed in the Swedish Population Register do not receive more financial support than they are entitled to, the Swedish Migration Agency can divide the daily allowance into smaller payments.

If you receive financial support from the Swedish Migration Agency, you will normally receive your daily allowance in advance, once a month. When you get listed in the Swedish Population Register, you are no longer entitled to financial support from the Migration Agency.

To avoid receiving a daily allowance for a longer period than you are entitled to, the Unit for Reception may decide to split your daily allowance into two payments. You will receive the same daily allowance as before, but divided into two instalments, on the 11th and 26th of each month.

You will be discharged from the Unit for Reception as soon as the Migration Agency receives notification from the Swedish Tax Agency that you have been listed in the Swedish Population Register. Your bank card will then be blocked, and you will not be able to access the money left on the card. We therefore recommend that you withdraw your money before you get listed.

If you have accidentally received a daily allowance for more days than you are entitled to, you can pay the money back to the Swedish Migration Agency. Contact your Unit for Reception for more information.

Right to more social support when you become listed

Once you have been listed in the Swedish Population Register and received a Swedish personal identity number, you are entitled to the same help from the Swedish social insurance system as other people living in Sweden.
