Changes for those residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina who previously applied for residence and work permit in Sarajevo

As from 10 March, 2025, the embassy in Sarajevo will no longer handle migration related matters. Instead, you should turn to the Swedish embassy in Skopje, North Macedonia.

If you are a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or otherwise have a legal residence there, you have until now turned to the Swedish embassy in Sarajevo to apply for residence and work permit.

From 10 March, you will instead have to personally visit the Swedish embassy in Skopje to conduct an interview, for passport control or to submit biometric information. To book an appointment or to contact the embassy for other questions you can find contact information on swedenabroad.se External link, opens in new window..

If you already have applied for residence and work permit and, for instance, have a booked interview at the embassy in Sarajevo or if you are waiting for a residence permit card, you will still be able to conduct the interview or collect the residence permit card at the embassy in Sarajevo after 10 March.
