Round table discussion: What happens if you are laid off or dismissed?

At Migrationsverket Play, you can now listen to a recorded sound table discussion that is intended for those with work permits who have lost, or are at risk of losing, their job.

Your employment is the basis for your work and residence permit in Sweden. If you are laid off or dismissed, there is no longer any basis for your permit and this means that the permit can be revoked. If this happens, can you then apply for a new job in Sweden? And how long do you have before the permit is revoked? Can your family members stay in Sweden while you are looking for a new job?

In a round table discussion, the Swedish Migration Agency addresses the most commonly asked questions about what happens when you are laid off from work or voluntary terminate your employment and want to remain in Sweden.

The discussion can be found at Migrationsverket Play (in Swedish): What happens to your permit if you are no longer employed?
