If you are returning to your country of origin, you can receive support worth EUR 5,000
If you withdraw your application for asylum or if it is rejected, you can receive support from the Swedish Migration Agency. On 1 March 2025, the support we provide for efforts to help you and your family members reintegrate into society in your country of origin will change. The amount of support you can get depends on when you choose to return.
People who will be returning to a number of selected countries can apply for this assistance, which is known as “reintegration support”.
The amount of support you can receive depends on when you choose to return
When you return, you and your family members can receive support equivalent to a maximum of EUR 5,000 and a minimum of EUR 1,000 per person. For example, you can get support to help you enter the job market or obtain legal advice. The amount of support you can get depends on when you choose to return.
Here is an overview of the new amounts and levels:
EUR 5,000 will be granted to each family member who chooses not to appeal the Swedish Migration Agency’s decision to reject their asylum application and leaves Sweden within the time specified in the decision. An asylum seeker who withdraws their application is granted the same amount.
EUR 3,000 will be granted to each family member who has appealed the decision of the Swedish Migration Agency to the courts and voluntarily leaves Sweden within the time specified in the decision.
EUR 2,000 will be granted to the main applicant (lead applicant) and EUR 1,000 to each other family member who has appealed the decision of the Swedish Migration Agency to the courts and voluntarily leaves Sweden after the time stated in the decision.
EUR 1,000 will be granted to persons who leave Sweden by force, i.e. after the Swedish Migration Agency has handed over their case to the Swedish Police Authority.
The changes are time-limited
These changes are valid from 1 March 2025 until 31 December 2025. In addition to reintegration support, it is also possible to apply for cash aid, so-called “reestablishment support”. On the Support for re-establishment page, you can read more about the help you can receive if you are going to return to your country of origin, how to apply for the support, and which countries are covered by the support.
